Here you see the first three True Doors with protective perspex kick plates for extra durability against knocks from wheelchairs.

We are thankful to the therapy team for letting us know what a difference the True Doors are making. That the space has been transformed into more of a neighbourhood where people "Walk down the street" and a more homely feeling overall.

Residents are walking to their own rooms and have been observed hesitating before going into other's rooms. And that residents have been asking staff to "look at my door" which has been fostering positive conversations.

Below family members of residents share their feedback. If you would like to know more about True Doors, please write to us.

Love mums new door – the wing looks welcoming and no longer gives feeling that family are walking into an institution.

Chris Stacey | Son of resident at Acacia Living Group in Western Australia

I love the whole new look given to the wing. It looks clearer, more presentable and has a “cool” feeling, I’ve observed my husband who’ 100 years old, correctly identify his room door. My husband has dementia and I visit the facility daily.

Wife of resident | Acacia Living Group in Western Australia

My Mum always has difficulty locating her room, today I noticed that mum correctly identified her room door as it had a True Door put on it – Well Done.

Erica Graca | Daughter of resident at Acacia Living Group in Western Australia

My wife’s room door looks beautiful and also looks like an actual front door of a house
